Meditation: Counting RoutineThis is a technique which some meditators use to put their mind into the alpha state. When you are in the alpha state of mind, you can tap into your superconscious to find solutions to problems, creative ideas, increase your intuition or boost your energy. To begin, sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Tell yourself that when you reach the number 1, you will be very relaxed. Then count backwards from 10 to 1. Repeat this procedure again, but count backwards from 25 to 1. Repeat the procedure again, but this time count backwards from 50 to 1. Each time, mentally tell yourself that when you reach the number 1, you will be in a deeper state of complete relaxation. To come out of your meditative state, tell yourself that you will feel alert and energised when you reach the number 10. Then count slowly up from 1 to 10. When you reach 7 or 8, begin to move your fingers and wriggle your toes. When you reach 9, take a deep breath. When you reach the number 10, open your eyes. This exercise can also be used to prepare your mind or as an introduction to a longer period of meditation. ----------------------------------------------------
